“I was standing in my backyard looking at my plants and thought,
I feel like I’m in a dream.”
On a Saturday morning, I stood in my backyard with my coffee and looked at my back bed, the place where I planted my first natives and ornamentals. I felt a breeze pass by, my Peggy Martin rose swayed in the wind, my salvia was dotted with carpenter bees. I could not believe that this was my garden, in Houston Texas.
I was standing there in my backyard looking at my plants and thought, “I feel like I’m in a dream.”
This garden bed is where my journey with outdoor plants began and I am happy to share the progress here as the space is ever-changing. Our landscapes are often feast and famine, and I accept that about gardening in the Lone Star State. What is truly meant to be in your garden will always come back to you.
